FLAC files and how they are being played over Plex

I was wondering what exactly is going on here.

I am playing the same FLAC file on two different platforms.

The image on the left shows a FLAC file being played on my Firestick which is plugged directly into my amp. The image on the right shows a FLAC file being played from my browser.

As you can see the FLAC file being played on my browser says Direct Play which means there is no transcoding involved. The FLAC file being played on the Firestick does not.

My question is whether the FLAC file being played on the Firestick is being transcoded or is it directly playing from my Firestick into my amp.
