Forced subtitles automatically in Plex?

Is there a way in Plex to automatically enable forced subtitles?

I often watch movies or TV shows where most of the dialogue is in English, but there are occasional foreign language scenes. In those cases, the forced subtitles usually exist in the file, but Plex doesn’t always enable them automatically. I end up having to pause the video, go into the subtitle settings, and manually select the forced subtitle track just for that moment.

This gets pretty annoying, especially when it happens multiple times during a show or movie.

Is there a global setting in Plex that will automatically use forced subtitles when they’re available? Ideally, I’d like Plex to show subtitles only when a foreign language appears, without having subtitles enabled for the entire movie or episode.

If this isn’t possible right now, is there a recommended workaround or plugin that helps with this?

Look at your account settings https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/account
In “Audio & Subtitle settings” set
“Automatically select audio and subtitle tracks”
“Preferred Audio Language” = English
“Preferred Subtitle Language” = English
“Auto Select Subtitle Mode” = Shown with Foreign Audio

The automatic track selection is only active until the user is picking an audio or subtitle track manually.
Each user account (that includes managed users) has its own language preferences. Utilize “Switch User” to set the language prefs of your managed users.

Ensure that your file is actually properly tagged. Both audio tracks and subtitle tracks must have language information. The forced subtitle must have the “forced” flag enabled on it.
(the forced flag and the language tag are not the same as the “track title”)
