How 'bout the links going belly up?
The You Tube embedder thingy gone bonkers?
Images showing up, then bursting on a reload?

It appears those were temporary issues. I just tested them by creating a post with a link, an image, and a Youtube embed and worked fine. Edited the post and everything still showed up as expected.

Back to the drawing board - apparently:

The ‘Disappearing Link Bug’ may be a particularly nasty one to squash. You’ll need more than a rolled up newspaper. Try a combat boot. Preferably one NOT on your foot. You don’t want to get that thing mad and have it run up your pant leg.

Thanks for the laugh, that was good! I’ll take a look at it.

Only happens in the morning, AFAICT.
After lunch (Eastern US) it’s fine, but anytime after midnight and before 10AM (usually) it’s Voodoo JuJu. Anything can happen. The bug occurred at 11:42AM East US - it may be evolving.

Who really cares anymore!?!?!?

I know I don’t!!!

Done with all this crap from Plex.

I’m, just gonna go along and take what ever problems Plex creates here and in their products, HOPE and PRAY things get fixed so I can at least just simply enjoy my media in peace.

I am done banging my head against the wall doing Plex’s job…

IE: Testing, Customer support, System Troubleshooting, Customer Service, Log and Data collection… et. al. (All while Paying for the privilege via Plex Pass)

Particularly since Plex does not even give us the same consideration, support, or bug free product.

It’s a shame. I love Plex for what it basically is and what it actually could be.
I never thought I would feel this way and personally caring more about this community and product than Plex does.
There are ALOT of GREAT folks in this community and hope we all can stay in touch.

This isn’t all that funny, but I just saw that critter carrying a rocket launcher:

… and here we are in the LATE afternoon (East US)…

@kinoCharlino, it’s been a couple of weeks - any updates from Vanilla on the problem?

I got a question. While I know nothing about forum software or Vanilla Inc, is Plex under some obligation to have the most current build available. Could Plex simple backdate/rollback to a previous version until Vanilla has fixed the issue?

Plex has no control over the forum software - they don’t run it or host it themselves. Vanilla does everything for them.

Wow great care for Customer Support…
Guess Customer Support is NOT mission critical to Plex…
LOL
Hard to believe this has NOT been fixed yet.
In my past life, if I let something go on like this in production… I’d be looking for a NEW job!!!

That is, of course, not if the system was just a low priority Blog/Users Group.

The last update I received from Vanilla (5 days ago) is that they have a dev task open to address the issue and hope to push it to production sometime this week if all goes well. I have reached out for an update.

We actually can’t rollback to a previous version as this forum is entirely hosted and managed by Vanilla Forums.

I have thoroughly explained the circumstance as well as what we have done to report, address, and provide updates on this issue. Plex support is on top of this and working closely with Vanilla (along with other outstanding forum issues) to see this resolved. Outside of obtaining update from Vanilla (and obviously reminding them of the impact this has to our users), it is out of our hands and entirely dependent on the resources and priority Vanilla Forums places on fixing this. Because the forum is hosted and managed by Vanilla Forums, Plex developers are not involved or able to fix issues with the forum software. If the level of attention I have brought this issue with Vanilla and in this thread is not satisfactory to you, then I suppose nothing will be.

@kinoCharlino
I guess that means you guys outta be looking for another Customer Support Vendor.

I know that’s what I would do if it were a mission critical system for me.
I would have lost my job by now if I let a mission critical system go this far without resolution.
Apparently Plex has NO clout with Vanilla. Must not be a very important client to them I guess.

The low attention to detail over this system simply reflects the same attitude toward the development and maintenance of Plex software. And that’s a fact!

But in reality who should care.
This is a Users Group Blog / Forum NOT Customer Support as declared by Plex.
The software if kinda like freeware. It is what it is while programmers just play around.

So there really should be no problem and I am sorry I am complaining.
Under that attitude, I can deal with things as they are.

I truly enjoy and love Plex when it works!!!
And I have met many great, knowledgeable, and helpful folks in here as it’s the community that REALLY gives the support.

This would drive a sane man to Drink, not a problem if it was not 6am. Ready to have another soon…

Horrible Plex customer service has been a staple of the past 4-6 months and is just getting worse. They actively rely on the community and user base to provide support to other users for their issues. We even actively post and report bugs and lately Plex all but ignore them for weeks at a time. Bug reports go on with pages and pages of reports and no response from anyone on the Plex team. The DVR EPG was broken for days, the only reason why it was fixed was because I gave up on the forums and I messaged them on Facebook saying look we have been trying to get ahold of the devs on the forums for about a week, the epg guide is broke yet you continue to advertise it on social media. Magically a few hours later Plex actually decided to care.

10 days later it broke again and was broke for a couple days worth of reports. Instead of just adding to the Plex Pass topic, I went back and told their Social Media team its broke again. Magically a few hours later they showed up to fix it again. At this point I wouldn’t bother using the forums. I even asked the dev why/how does Plex have re-occuring service impacting outages for over a week with out the Plex Team noticing. He said to report it to social media as there were less chances of it to be missed.

At this point it looks like its better to use facebook or twitter to report issues apparently, single threaded and less likely to be missed and they don’t care to check the forums anymore.

Update!

Word from Vanilla is this issue has been patched and will be included in a release update taking place tomorrow.

Unfortunately I do not see it fixed. I’ve reached out to Vanilla and am waiting a response.

I’m hearing reports that this is now fixed. @kegobeer-plex or anyone else, can you confirm? It looks fixed when I test it out in the Participated page.

This will be the last update from me on this issue unless it comes back. Vanilla deployed the fix this morning and we have several tests confirming that this has been resolved.

it looks ok to me now.

Yup, all fixed up. @kinoCharlino, can you close this thread?

Thanks.
