Now we’re getting pretty close to CentOS 8 end of life… I assume RED HAT didn’t like when people and big organisations used CentOS instead of paying for Red Hat. However, will CentOS not be officially supported by PLEX within some time or what? There are other options as well. Personally I really think RockyOS could be a suitable replacement. And it’s started by the same person that started CentOS? Could there be further support CentOS (or maybe rather RockyOS?) in the future as well? I mean, it’s a great distrubution for those who really want stability. It might be a good option for those who got crowded high performance PLEX server with huge libraries as well I assume… I guess Ubuntu and Fedora isn’t for everybody
Exactly… my question was like if PLEX might stop development of those official packages (maybe not instantly) after long term CentOS goes down. I am afraid that there could be a slight risk? Or am I plain wrong? I would appreciate if there is an official package that I can use even if I would use RockyOS in the upcoming future. And I’m in for the long run.
EDIT: So, these packages are not meant for CentOS specifically? They works out as good on any 1:1 clone?
Rocky is binary compatible with redhat. Plex won’t have to change anything.
