Genre radio not continuing

I love the idea with genre radio so that you can send a large list with what you want to listen to and have the app make you a random playlist with weights based on rating etc. But the genre radio has never worked for more than a couple of songs for me. The lazy loading of new tracks is never called at the end of the first selection, so i have to manually restart it over and over. Every genre has around 1000 songs so it should not have a problem, and the radio function should prefer but not be limited to the genre as i have understod it. So something has been wrong with the lazy loading for a long time and i hope you can fix it soon.

Something similar happening with me. I have 180,000+ audio files in common folder structure by genres (12 of them). Most of the genres have a large number of files (e.g. ‘Rock’, ‘Jazz’, “Jazz Vocals
” However I have one genre: 1920s and 30s that only has about 3,000 files. When I choose that genre for genre radio, the playlist only shows up with about 15 songs. Why just 15 out of 3,000 files?

Rock, Jazz, Jazz Vocals Genre Radio playlists seem to function normally.

Make sure you guys have popularity enabled.

(And if you do, it might be those genres which aren’t working don’t match or have Last.FM data)

Its on. Mabe it should ignore lastFM data if not available instead of excluding the tracks if that is the case? Its nice that it uses popularity etc from online databases but not if its excluding all content that do not match those databases perfectly. It could still use rating, play count and last played as weights for content it can not match. I use my own genres so if its some sort of check on those than that could very well not match the online database.

That’s how stations are designed. You can also easily make your own smart playlist which won’t act like this.

Save that, shuffle it, be happy.

How do you mean, it can be made with playlist? I can not give weights to thing like rating and time since played in a playlist, only include or exclude songs. The alure with the radio was that my highly liked songs and songs i had not listen to for a time was more likely to be played. That it also gave popular songs from lastfm a boost was no negative especially for untagged content, but not at the exclusion of everything it can not match. I hope you can reconsider that decision. It should be possible to boost the probability for content it can get information on without excluding everything it can not.
