I am tech savvy and have no problem filtering my searches for movies by genre, sorting by rating, etc. The people that I am sharing my library with are not tech savvy. For these reasons, I’ve created several Collections - which are all tediously and manually created / maintained labors of love.
Then I discovered advanced / smart playlists and got excited about it. Some examples of playlists I created include the following:
Movies from each decade (1950s, 1960s, etc.)
Animated Movies playlist
Combined genre playlist (for example, combining THRILLER and HORROR)
What is GREAT about smart/advanced movie playlists is, unlike collections, they are automatically maintained as your library grows. I add a 1995 Thriller movie to my library, and it is automatically added to my 1990s playlist and my Thriller/Horror playlist. Wow! Cool!
Then I realized there is no easy button to share Movie playlists - bummer. So my friends have no way of benefiting.
My ask is the following:
Provide an advanced / smart query (similar to playlists) to create collections that maintain themselves when your video library grows. Boom! Very cool and functional feature - HIGH value to admins and their friends.
