That was a long story, long story short: to make it work you will need to start it via ./setup.py via a terminal as root (restore the original files first).

javascript can only read files, it cannot write files, nor can it control plexconnect, you will need a webserver to interact, the script provides an additional webserver and the required controls.

I'm a total newbie as far as terminal goes, but I got plexconnect installed and it runs. I just don't understand how to start the GUI. Can anyone help please?

Hm.

PlexConnect doesn't natively come with a GUI. Every GUI around here basically is a fourth-party tool trying to make life with a third-party Plex client easier.

Where have you been looking for which GUI?

If you want to have a play and provide feedback then you can download the files here at the test fork.

Please make sure you read the included GUI specific 'readme' for more details and known issues.

For full testing stop your current PlexConnect instance and run from a fresh download (if it detects you have no settings.cfg then it will kick in the first run wizard).

The GUI that this thread is trying to beta test. Ive used plexconnect for a long time and used Plexify when it was around, but I'd like to try the one from this thread. The read me says sudo ./setup.py and I tried that, but is say command not found.

If you can't get it going there is always OpenPlex since you are running OSX I assume? Looks like there hasn't been a commit in awhile looking at the github test fork looks promising I hope they finish it.

Okay. Don't know exactly what happened. But it definitely is NOT part of the main iBaa branch. So, depending what you downloaded (iBaa vs the GUI fork) you won't have the GUI/setup.py or not the latest PlexConnect...

PlexConnect is now on version 0.4-dev

Im sure my fork is even older then that but I use it mainly for OpenPlex that git clones and updates ibaa's (default PlexConnect) and other GitHubs (Themes/Forks) to the latest commits (versions) only for OSX.
