Handbrake ripping subtitles

Hi,

I know this is probably not the place to post this but everyone here is so helpful and knowledgeable I thought I give it a try.

I’ve been trying to rip the subtitles off of my movies and tv shows using handbrake and I am having no luck whatsoever. What I want to achieve is kind of like Netflix where you can turn on and off subtitles as you wishes. So far, I can only get either a subtitle burn into the show or no subtitles at all.

So can you please tell me the correct way of ripping subtitles using handbrake so that I can turn on and off on Plex?

Thanks.

mp4 containers only support text based subtitles (e.g. srt) – so if your subtitle is using a different format, Handbrake can only burn it in the text.
if you use mkv as the container for transcoding target, you can also embed other subtitle types.
