There’s something about GUC and HUC tuning options (for the i915) out on the internet. It has helped some folks. I forget where I saw it.
Ahh right. All good @ChuckPa Thank you very much for helping me figure out where the issue is, at least i know now . At least now if you get questions from other community members you can tell them that this is a known issue with the i915 driver on Kernel 6.1.34 for Alder Lake
Ill have a look around for the GUC and HUC settings or ill just have to disable Tone Mapping for now until a new Kernel gets used in Unraid.
The GUC / HUC will be part of i915.conf – on the host itself , not the container, when you set it.

Just replying to say I have this same issue, except I’m using LSIO Plex container. Rolled back to 1.32.1.6999-91e1e2e2c and everything works.
Thanks for the reply. Yeah i ended up staying on the latest build but then removing tone mapping for now as a short term fix.
OK, so it is a Kernel/driver issue - that’s now understood.
Out of interest, though, what does Plex version .6999 do differently such that it is not affected by the kernel/driver issue?

Has anyone tested Old Kernel + New Plex? Presumably that works, but what changed in Plex?
Thats a very good question! I cant roll back my unraid very easily so i havent check this one but id say you are right that old Kernel and new Plex will work.
Also, even though New Kernel and old Plex works i still get Transcoding and Media scan segfaults during the maintenance scan which i never got before. So something about the new Kernel has definitely broken something.
Do you have any updates about this issue?
I have the same issue after I upgrade my Unraid from 6.11 to 6.12,
BUT it still not working even I disabled Tone Mapping and degrade to 6999. ( Not tested rigorously）

If you Downgraded to 6999 you shouldnt need to disable tone mapping but if it still doesnt hw transcode try stopping plex then deleting the Codecs folder and then start up plex and see if that works. It will Auto download the codecs again. I jad to do that at least once when i was flip flopping between releases troubleshooting.
Then try the latest Plex again with tone mapping off.
Also, under “Transcoder” in your server settings, leave the GPU selection set to Auto.
Hopefully that gets you going again.
But unfortunately no further updates. We are stuck here until Unraid uses a newer Kernel 
When using the 1.32.5 version, the image is blurred, and it works fine in the 1.32.4 version.
OS: pve 7.4-3

Hmm, you might need to ask @ChuckPa to have a look at the logs to see whats going on here.
So with 1.32.4 and the 6.2 Kernel everything works, including hw transcoding with Tone mapping enabled?
