HDR Tonemapping with Hardware Transcoding Broken PMS 1.29.2.6364

How can I modify the XML file to remove subtitles?

You REMUX the file (mkvtoolnix is a good tool – you unselect the PGS tracks – and create a new output file)

Save the old file.

Put the new file in its place.

Tell PMS to “Analyze” the file movie again.

Check the XML and the PGS will be gone.

Now you can test.

Thanks managed to remove the subtitles as confirmed by viewing the XML data, however the same crash/stall occurs. Here are the logs

@andrew_sou

Try using Plex/web and on the same account.

The android playback has a separate problem. (does the player app settings allow transcoding and direct streaming?)

@ChuckPa I’m pleased to say that hw transcoding appears to be somewhat working after the recent 1.32.2.7002 beta update, despite in the release notes it mentioning “(Transcoder) Removed support for Intel hardware transcoding on FreeBSD (#14281)” as a Feature?

However the stream seams to crash when transcoding HDR content, regardless of playback device/method (iPad w/ Plex 8.19 or Plex Web via Brave).
Attached are the logs if you wish to look into it.

Thanks for your time so far mate.

This is still an iOS problem.

using augmented profile iOS

It’s DirectStreaming (Remux for iOS – normal behavior)

Then it closes and fails.

When this happens can you take a screenshot ? That should initiate a ‘feedback’ to the devs which sends the player logs captured at that moment.

It seems they got most of the issues but not all of them as this looks like a player app crash ? :frowning:

Installed 1.32.2.7100 with Docker on Ubuntu. HW HDR Tone mapping is working for me now.

I migrated my TrueNAS Core install to TrueNAS Scale and setup Plex using the built in Apps Catalogue. HW transcoding is working as expected and I’m happy that I’m getting the benefits of my Plex Pass. Thank you to @ChuckPa for all your time spent digging through this.

To clarify my post from yesterday. I did not change anything except upgrading the Plex container for HDR to work. My Plex (along with many other containers) has been on the same Intel NUC with Ubuntu for the entire time.
