Headless Rasplex for HiFi ?

I plan to plug a RPi+DAC on my amp but I’d like to use it headless. More precisely, I’d like to control the RPi+DAC receiver with the full-featured mobile app (connected to a desktop server). By controling, I mean using my tablet screen to directly browse the media library, and not using a mobile “remote” with arrows to navigate menus on a TV-screen. Of course, the 192/24 FLACs on the server need to go directly to the RPi+DAC receiver without transiting through the tablet and Wifi (everything else is Ethernet wired).

Does Rasplex permit headless in that sense ? If yes how ? … will ithe RPi+DAC just appear as any Chromecast ?

I’ve had a set up like this for a year and a bit now. I use the Plex Android app on my mobile. So the interface is of the media library type (ie it’s not an arrow thing). Works like a dream. Would be better on a tablet because it would display more than my mobile, but I cannot bring myself to buy a tablet just to have a better control device.

Thanks ! Then I’ll install RasPlex. This RPi+DAC will also read videos (projector) so I’ll try to configure RasPlex to get different audio outputs depending on the media (DAC for ausio, and HDMI for video). But that’s another story…

Is it as simple as installing Hifiberry on the RP2 & Rasplex? Will it turn into a Google Cast to client?

Temperdu- I use the RaspPi/Hifiberry for audio. Works great. I use either separate RaspPi’s or Chromecasts for video streaming. All come up on the Rasplex app as cast locations. Everyone in my house has figuredone it out. I’m not sure you can have different audio outputs for media type on Rasplex.

Eug7- just to clarify, Hifiberry is a hardware manufacturer who makes add-on boards for the RaspPi. DACs, amps, etc. Works well with Plex.

Thanks. I’ll try and let you know.
