Nobody has mentioned there is an error message:“Plex Media Server.app” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.
Is there an expected identificaion time?
PMS should be signed, unless they missed it on a release; if this is an issue for you then it needs to be raised in the PMS sub forum or alter your gatekeeper preferences to allow it to run.

Yes, of course it should be signed. It is not. The exact message again is "Plex Media Server.app can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer." Is it possible to solve the problem?

And - part 2:
Just downloaded the server app a couple of times on OS X 10.8.4 and got this error message: "'Plex Media Server' can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers. Google Chrome downloaded this file today at 11:34 AM from plexapp.com."
I spoke yesterday with some people in the chat room (w00ds, Mr. H, et al), and they agreed that the code signing of the app appears to be broken (meaning that it doesn't appear to the OS to have an Identified Developer ID, and that it therefore doesn't play nicely with Gatekeeper).

This is extremely simply solved by doing the solution below. Just select allow from anywhere in your settings.app then navigating to security & privacy. The only way to solve this is for plex to sign the pms.app which really isnt a big deal since you can just select allow for anywhere which is needed to do basically anything outside the realm of osx signed apps anyways. If it was signed I would imagine this would simplfy a lot of the autostaring issues we all have with osx and gatekeeper etc, still you would need to be logged in for pms to start but thats where my fastuser app comes into into play. Instructions and download available here:
The Plex Media Server is an application that runs on your Macintosh or Windows PC. You can only access your Plex media while the server is running, so we recommend you allow the application to launch when you log-in. You must login to the user account for the server to load.
This is a pain but that sad truth, until it is able to run w/o a gui you are screwed on osx unless you use my fastuser or an equivalent app. Logging out will also kill pms, this is why I personally use fastuser to load the switch user screen which keeps pms alive, i would imagine a lot of users are seeing trailers unavailable because they dont understand that logging out kills pms as well as not logging in, hope this clears things up
The safer way is to make a right click on the app and click on "open". This overrides the security setting without turning off the security setting. After you've opened the app for the first time it wont tell you again that its not signed :-)
