I had trouble running plexconnect on my WHS based machine and I am now trying to get it to run on my Mac instead. I had it running once and then it crashed. Whenever I try running I get the error above.

Any ides on what I should be doing?

You have something running a DNS server on port 53 already.

From terminal - do a "netstat -a" then find what process is using that port.

You have something blocking the ports. I also suspect you have an old version of Plexconnect. Restart the computer, update Plexconnect and make sure you have followed the up to date installation instructions available in the Read Before Posting Thread stickied at the top of this forum.

After you figure out your port issue, delete pms and plexconnect and start fresh by downloading new versions, create new certs etc, use my signature first link. If plexconnect is working you should be able to see this in your browser by typing in your mac’s ip address in safari:

OK, I ran that and I can't see anything. Sorry it is quite long - am I missing something on there or looking int he wrong place?

OK - will do. I did download the latest version of PlexConnect from the GIT repository. Will start again from scratch.

Turn off anything that autostarts in your login items by deleting them with the minus symbol, check your /library/launchdaemons /library/launchagents, enable one thing at a time until you find the culprit using port 53

Hmm...that is strange. It looks like python is the culprit. I did read someone else have a similar issue and they were advised to shutdown all instances of Python running. I did that and it didn't work.

At the moment as well Activity Monitor isn't showing even a single Python instance.

Does "Activity Monitor" only show YOUR processes or all of them?

Anyways... you can always kill: sudo kill 1213.

It might really be some old PlexConnect processes. How did it crash?

Here are port 80 and 443...

Sudo kill didn't fix it. Then I looked at whether I was looking at all processes or just my own.

I was only showing my own. Killed ALL processes now and it seems to be running. Going to bed now but will test it properly tomorrow.
