Hi,
I’m afraid of the consequences of merging and the mess it could potentially create so could someone tell me what can i expect if for example I merge two artist folders each containing several albums:
I have ‘Art Pepper’ & ‘Art Pepper Quintet’.
If I select them both and click the Merge button…what will happen?
Will I get a single ‘Art Pepper’ folder or an ‘Art Pepper Quintet’ folder?
And more generally, what are the rules that the Merge action follows so I can better predict what will happen in other scenarios.

I didn’t even realise there was a merge artists option, i’ve only used this with albums, in that scenario it renames the album and sorts the list inside based on either track number or if you are more organised disc then track. To get the album named what i wanted I just change the displayname.
this merging artists sounds interesting, will be keeping an eye on this.

Whichever is selected first will provide the metadata.
This principle applies to merging albums and movies as well.
I strongly urge you to verify & correct your embedded metatags before activating “prefer embedded metadata” in the properties of your library.
Ok, thanks for the info. My metatags are the way I want them. Because especially in jazz, you can have an artist playing in solo, duo, trio, 4tet, 5tet, orchestra, etc…so it’s good to know rather than having them all just show up as 'Miles Davis" for example.
But if I can have them all under one ‘Miles Davis’ label, it’s a lot better when browsing the library of course. Then when I open my ‘Miles Davis’ folder, I can see all the different variations as above.

I’ve found verifying/correcting disc numbers is better done before merging 
i also have found in my limited experience that doing disc number first is quicker/easier than after merging.
