Hide Shared Library

I have three libraries, one of them is shared. How do I hide it in my account?

I’ll explain it better… I have three libraries:

  • Library A
  • Library B
  • Library C (shared)

The other user sees only “Library C”, I can see only “Library A” and “Library B”? It’s possible?

Is it you who is sharing Library C with the other user?
You can’t hide libraries from yourself if you are admin. If you had Plex Pass there would be a possibility to add another user, hide libraries from him, use this user for day to day watching and admin account for “admin tasks”.

Yes, I’m sharing “Library C” with the other user, with the function friends.

So if I understand correctly, i can not hidden library. I need Plex Pass and Plex Home. Right?

No, you can’t hide it, if you are an admin.
I’m not saying you need Plex Pass and Home. I’m saying that if you had, there is workaround.

So an admin is forced to see all the libraries? Very bad.

I used Plex for years, but in the last year I used Emby. I wanted to go back to Plex (for PlexPy), but I will not do. I am surprised that such a simple and basic thing can not be done on Plex.

Nothing should ever be hidden from the Admin, because that limits the Admin’s abilities. If you want to see only certain libraries in your day-to-day use, create a managed user for yourself, share libraries A and B with that user, and use that user when using your Plex clients. Then you can switch to Admin account only to perform Admin functions.

I would disagree. Hidden has never meant that abilities are limited.

I would love a way to select which libraries are shown and the order that they are in, for all users including admins. This would be what is seen on the playback app or software such as Plex Home Theater and Plex Media Player or playback device. All libraries would be available in the web configuration for admin. Could Plex add a check box if a library is shown and a way to customize the order that libraries are displayed vs alphabetical. At least the checkbox if the library is shown for the admin.

Also I would rather not use a separate user account since I always want my admin privileges.

Right, that’s how it works on Emby… one of the many reasons that made me leave Plex two years ago.

The management of libraries, metadata, and users is much better on Emby.
