Is there audio output on HDMI and Hifiberry at the same time? So I can watch a movie and have Dts via HDMI , but when I play some music the Hifiberry out can be used?
Thanks in advance an keep up the good work!

Yeah, should be possible, see my post above of 21 July.

Great! I will give it a try!

Many thanks!!

Today I added a digi+ (transformer version) and changed the following settings in de config file :

dtoverlay=lirc-rpi

dtoverlay=hifiberry-digi
The optical out lights up, but no sound unfortunately.
Anyone an idea?
Thanks!

Have you selected the device in ‘Audio output device’?

Regards

As I mentioned earlier I want to use HDMI for watching movies and the Hifiberry digi+ for musiic. Problem lies with the receiver giving priority to HDMI when both inputs are selected for 1 input. Created another input for the Hifiberry output without HDMI. Problem solved!
Sorry to bother you!
I really like the music part of plex/rasplex now, I have been using plex for video for a year or 2 now.
All in one, nice!
Thanks for the quick response! !

Hello, I am just getting my RasPi2 all set up with the Hifiberry Amp and Rasplex. I have Rasplex 0.7.1 installed. I have edited the config.txt using my Ubuntu computer and commented out the lirc-rpi line and uncommended the hifiberry-amp line.

Then I have tried to config the settings through the menus. I have the following settings:

  1. Audio output as HDMI
  2. Audio offset is off
  3. Output stereo to all speakers isn checked
  4. Boost volu!e level is checked
  5. Audio output channels is 2.0
  6. Audio output device is ALSA (snd_ rpi_Hifiberry_Amp Analog)
  7. Pass through output device is Pi:HDMI

All these settings result in no sound.

Any idea where I went wrong?

Many thanks!

Have just checked my setup (using a DacPlus), settings are the same as yours and works OK.

Did you remember to comment out the following line so it looks like this in config.txt:

 # Required overlay for LIRC to function
 # dtoverlay=lirc-rpi

Thanks, I will check that. However, I think I might have a powersupply problem as well. I am going to swap it out with a higher V powersupply and see if that works.

Thanks for your response!

A 2A power supply is recommended.

Regards

Yes, a larger powersupply has solved the problem. We are now enjoying RasPlex with the Hifiberry Amp+ and it seems to be a great solution to music in my daughter’s room. Fun, geeky-cool and has all the media in the house available to her.

Many thanks for the development of this distro!

For the HifiBerry Amp, you need a 12-18V powersupply. The Amp will power the RasPi. Essentially an old laptop power supply.

The other HifiBerry products (Digi/DAC) are powered from the RasPi, and you are right, a 2A 5V is recommended.

Wow, hadn’t realised that, but then it’s obvious really - amp is the clue, have just ordered one.

Still only supports music.

Hi Ned,

Do you know if future RasPlex releases are likely to be able to use any of the HifiBerry’s for TV and Movies, etc, or is this likely to never be implemented?

Cheers

That’s great, thanks very much!

Do you have any idea when it will be supported? I almost ordered a HiFiBerry, but then i noticed it is not supported form Video yet…

looks like it requires a lot more work than we were all led to believe.

Dam no HiFiBerry for movies. :frowning:

Adding HiFiBerry support for movies unfortunately requires an update from the old Frodo code base to something newer and is not something that is done quickly.
Next major version will be based on Kodi Isengard (or Jarvis) and will bring lots of improvements including full hifiberry support once it is finished, no eta yet.

You can try to use Squeezelite for music and Rasplex for video on the same RPi. You just need to setup Logitech Media Server alongside your PMS.This way, you can configure Rasplex to output through HDMI and use the DAC for Squeezelite.
