Hosted Plex server appears to hang randomly without actually crashing

Server Version: 1.18.6.2368
Player Version#: N/A

Randomly at odd hours every few days or so it just hangs and no clients can connect to the server and a full restart is needed to get the server back. This occurs with and without hardware transcoding and no obvious cause can be found - if someone could give the attached logs a skim and provide some guidance as to proceed I would appreciate that.

I need add no crash logs are being generated, this has happened since around the start of Feb and since then only two crash logs were generated (see attached) while 5+ hangs have occured.

Your logs show a great deal of proxy-forwarded traffic. ( X-Forwarded-For)
Do you have a proxy server and are you certain it’s not the issue here?

Also, your logs show so much activity, I do not see any errors (the rollover buffer has expunged any errors). The logs you supplied contained references to 23 unique users who all were streaming.

In order to capture what’s happening, would you consider increasing the retention of the log buffers?

Given this level of activity, I link expanding to 15 would be a good first step.
If you agree,

  1. Stop Plex
  2. Edit Preferences.xml
  3. Add 'LogNumFiles=“15”anywhere before the closing/>`
    4 Start Plex

When you know you’ve captured it “hanging”, or have captured a hard crash (which your listing above shows there was) Please immediately download the logs and attach again.

It’s proxied via Cloudflare, and I know the proxy isn’t the issue as restarting the plexmediaserver service fixes it, without any intervention to the proxy. I have adjusted the Preferences file as requested and will capture logs next time this happens. Is pulling logs from the Troubleshooting menu fine or do I need to pull them from the server disk directly? (crash logs vs webui logs appear to be different files)

Whether you pull from PMS (which makes a ZIP)
or generate a ZIP of the Logs directory
or generate a tar.gz of the Logs directory …

doesn’t matter.

All I ask is I be given as complete a picture as is possible.

Thank you - will update the thread when it happens again with logs.

Had multiple hangs this weekend, the service does not crash but Plex’s web interface is unresponsive and requires a manual service stop and start to get it back. Attached are logs pulled, I did adjust retention to 15. I hope its helpful.
