How can I set up a playlist on the server that can be seen by any connected client?

I run a plex server on unraid, so it is a linux docker… I access it via a web interface on my local network. I then stream from the server using Plex Android Apps on my TV or Laptops.

The question I have is how can I make a playlist on the server so any client connected to it can play that playlist.

Basically I want to set up some playlists based on “watch order”, rather then in the normal way.

Here is an example.

Stargate Franchise.

  • Stargate Origins
  • Stargate Film
  • SG1 Season 1 - 7
  • SG1 Season 801-802)
  • Stargate SG1 (8,9,10) + Atlantis (1,2,3). Alternate Episodes Starting with SQ1 Season 803.
  • Ark of Truth
  • Atlantis Season 4 + Season 501
  • Continuum
  • Atlantis Season 5
  • Stargate Universe

So this playlist would need to mix 3 TV Series, including a period of 1 episode from one show and then the other, plus some TV Movies, plus a Web TV Show and a film.

Now having them all on the server is fine, but what would be great is to have it in the correct order.

How would I go about making a playlist like this? So any client (say on my TV or Phone) could connect to my server and play the same playlist, in the same way I can play a “series”.

thanks

Make the playlist, then share it
is the only way.

yeah… ok… but HOW do I make the playlist?

The link you posted seems to only show how to share individual files?

How can I actually make a playlist?

The link shows how to share the playlist, once it has been finished.

See [HowTo] Create Playlists
For your particular purpose, you want a manually created playlist. You must add episodes but not whole shows or seasons.

You might also want to look at this [HowTo] Selecting multiple items for edit, playlist, etc.
