Hey, I am having trouble adjusting the right settings on my router (ASUS rtac68u) so that I can bypass my double nat. I live in an apartment complex using their provided internet by plugging my router into the wall etc etc, which results in a double nat. Can anyone help me figure out what exact settings to adjust in my router and on plex so that I can stream remotely when I am away from my apartment. I am running a Plex server on a repurposed Mac mini on OS Sierra.
There is no setting to get past double NAT. You’re only hope may be a VPN and I’m not even sure that would work.
there is a bridge mode, but after a quick look, and following the instructions it just turned my router into a brick and I had to reset the entire thing
I do have a VPN, privateinternetaccess, but I’m not sure how to configure that for these purposes
The first issue you will have is to have the apartment complex port forward the ports to your router or ideally set it up as a DMZ
Next you will need to turn off NAT in your router. Page 74 in the manual talks about it.
Then you can setup port forwarding in the router.
If you can not get the first step done, then you will never get it to work.
Hope that helps.
