I have a lot of old songs, and none of them have an artist name or album name in the meta. It’s currently creating one album titled “Various Artists.”
I want to add a link for each song in the library, then click the three dots next to the song to add a link there. I can’t do this at all; it only works per album, and when I do that, a lot of songs end up under the wrong album.
How do I do this per song?

I’d use something like dBpoweramp to edit the ID tags for each song to put in the meta data. And then move into folders following the Plex folder rules. This is the way to reliably have the correct meta data
Okay, yes, I want my own folder structure on my NAS and not Plex’s. But I don’t think folder structure matters, do I? Plex puts the songs in the correct album if the meta is correct.

Are you trying to organize a single music file so it shows under the artist instead of under various artist?

I have no complete albums
Mp3tag (works on more than just mp3) and add what ever metadata to the files you want. Plex like that.
With plex there has to be an album. It didn’t have to be a real album but that’s how it has to be organized.
I don’t use metadata but can include singles in 2 ways by using the following folder structure.
/music/artist-singles/01-track name.mp3
/music/artist-track name/track name.mp3
Show me the filenames. The naming pattern has to be the way I’ve shown.
A better solution would be to identify the artist and track title of each track.
Install Shazam or similar on your smart phone, then play the track and open Shazam and let the phone listen to the track as it is playing.
With a little luck Shazam will identify the track and the artist for you. You can then use that information to complete the metadata for each of your currently unknown tracks.
Further investigation with Google should reveal an album and track number for the track, but if not, you can always use Single as the Album name in your metadata.
And make sure you use the artist name in both the Artist and Album Artist tags, otherwise Plex will add the the track to a Various Artist album as it is now.
Folder structure very much matters if you want Plex to consistently keep the metadata correct.
