I’m having the same trouble as you. I really wish there was a simple solution but I think this is an “Apple doesn’t want you to use a third party software” kind of deal…

It worked for me by adding the folder /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/[myusername]/Pictures/Photos Library.photoslibrary/originals directly into my library (not as a path in cells “iPhoto library XML path”).
As explained ssidik, you can’t find your Photo app album, but at least, pictures are set by date.
I know it’s been said over and over and over, but Plex is going to lose me as a customer on this. Their server does not support reading Mac OS X Photos library, their iOS app doesn’t support uploading camera photos due to a bug. There really is no way to sync Mac/iOS Photos with Plex without workarounds or 3rd party solutions, unless one wants to use an old operating system which then becomes a security risk. Pretty inexcusable negligence for a paid software product.
