hi!
I have recorded several years worth of F1 races. I would like to have them in the Plex library.
I have a Library for Motorsport as a “other library” and within, I would like to have:
F1 Races
-Season 2007
– race 01
– race 02
-Season 2008
– race 01
– race 02
(and so on)
I have tried to use the TV show naming convention (folder named “Season 2007” and in that files names “S2007E01”, “S2007E02” etc.) but that does not seem to work, even though it should according to this doc:
How can I organise this so i do not have 150 files loose?
I know of Collections, but unfortunately, you cannot have collections within collections, so that will not work…
Try a different naming convention maybe. I have the year first:
/2008 F1 Racing
-------/2008 Belgian GP
--------------/2008 Belgian GP S2008 E13.mkv
…
…
/2009 F1 Racing
…
…
That should give you separate years with the different episodes (races)
So, making a new library (temporary) based on “TV Shows” rather than “other” worked.
The Seasons are split into correct years using the standard naming convention. (Though Plex wanted to match them to “Wacky Races” (!)
However the problem is now, how to make a TV show library deal with something like Season Reviews and individual documentaries, I as have quite a few of those, and would ideally want to keep all in a library called “Motorsport”
And yes, I do rewatch some races a few times. Sometimes it is because of who won, sometimes it is because the strategy behind it needs to be reviewed a couple of times.
Check the agent setting for the library. Set it to Personal Media Shows. In Plex Web, click on the three dots to the right of the library name. Manage Library → Edit → Advanced. See pic below.
TV Show libraries do not have the option for trailers, deleted scenes, etc like Movie libraries.
As @NFusionBert mentions, you can use Season 00 for all extras.
You can also use your own episode numbering scheme. For example, make Episode 99 of each season the Season Review, use episode 80 - 89 for the season documentaries, use Season 00 for items not specific to a season, etc.
Since they’re not really TV shows, you can use whatever numbering scheme you want.
