How to remove items from recently added?

i hope it is possible!
I've been doing a lot of cleanup of my very large library lately. Some of which involves joining some avi files, re-encoding VOBs to mkvs, renaming files etc. This of course floods my recently added list with old news.

Is there any way at all to remove specific items from the recently added list?

I too would like to know how to remove all the items from Recently added. I have a lot of tv shows and movies, some of which I have already seen, all flooding the ‘recently added’ for the last 5 weeks since I installed the app and told it where to find my collection. 5 weeks ago ISN’T ‘recent’ to a normal person, so why is it ‘recent’ to the Plex app developers? When will they drop off? how can I remove them manually? They are annoying me just sitting in that line of items when I go through the categories.

Thanks,

Roger

It’s basically latest added files. Add more and they will pushed back.

Yes, I have noticed. It would be nice if they went away from that list if they have been watched too.

Yea roger that would be logical. And an easy way to clean up the recently added list.

It depends on the client, the client can very easily request the recently added list with just unwatched items. For example the desktop client does this. I say this is rather a problem with whatever client you are using.

I’m talking about the app on a Samsung smart tv.

and Roku!
and Plex/Web!

I've always liked the desktop app the best, but its not ideal to stick a mac mini on every tv.

Can plex web be modified to not show watched items in the recently added list? If so how?

You won't get a good reply. Check the reply I got above, absolutely nothing to do with what I asked, and unhelpful. This app is the most ill-though-out app I have seen. It has so many bugs it's laughable. even the 'resume from x:xx doesn't work when you stop watching something and try to resume again, so you have to try to locate where you were up to manually.

And SOOOO many clicks of the remote to  find the show you're after... such a lack of control over how the app behaves is the problem. But this forum is pointless because the developer doesn't give a ■■■■.

you'd best ask about the Plex/Web client in the Plex/Web client forum.

1) you got an answer, you just didn't like what it was

2) asking further questions about the Samsung client (which, is not even written by Plex) in the Linux server forum is not the smartest place to get an answer.

1. I didn't get a relevant answer. The answer I got assumed I was using a computer. I corrected him, and received no reply.

2. How am I supposed to know that the people who made Plex didn't make the Plex app that is used on the Samsung tv? wouldn't it have been prudent to say that to start with instead of supplying a stupid answer to a question that many people have?

3. Why keep using the word "client" - people who post here wouldn't understand what that means... are you all not smart enough to be able to communicate with people outside your own little worlds properly?

4. Good work making people hate your pathetic little App with your elitist replies.

well, if your plan is to jump on anyone who does try and give you info I'll leave you to it.

Well I can say through experimentation I can tell you this is a Client specific issue you are speaking of.  FOR INSTANCE...  If I use a plex app on an Anndroid device and then go to Plex Web interface or another Plex official client then it is written to read the server file play info and will ask to resume and that resume will be from last client utilizing that username viewing that file and works perfectly everytime.  The other side of this coin is like my WDTV Live.  This is DIFFERENT THE CLIENT SAVES RESUME INFORMATION ITSELF INDEPENDENT OF THE SERVER AND IS NOT WRITTEN TO OBTAIN THIS INFORMATION FROM THE SERVER.

So really it is client specific action as written by the deveoper of that DLNA client you are using.  Sadly, it is hard to get high quality DLNA clients in Smart TVs [as of yet] and I find they are usually lacking in many areas [like I have to load a specific folder view to even see things like the written synopsis of a film on my WDTV when actually it should load the information page of a given media item when I hit OK on the remote, but the CLIENT not the server is written to not query for an info page [or use one], but this HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PLEX SERVER and EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE CLIENT].

If you want changes in the Samsung Smart TV client than you will have to speak with Samsung about the features you wish were there, but please stop confusing that with a Plex issue it's just a wrong conclusion.

OR Maybe you could try using the official Plex Client For Windows, or Mac to use an HDMI cable to your TV  OR buy an ANdorid on a stick and use the Plex Android App [or one of the many DLNA clients [WHICH ALL HAVE DIFFERENT BEHAVIORS AND ARE NOT UNIVERSAL so try a couple instead of just blaming the server, or you could look at the media profile the DLNA server loads for your Samsung TV and see if any adjustments to the profile file on the server could solve some of your issues [this is really only to specify file types, the protocol it prefers, and mostly technical backend how to get the media to the client and how to play it type stuff not really in how it presents said info, but haven't delved deep in to DLAN profiles yet myself [don't need to newest update solved MOST of the WDTV Live issues with DLNA so it works just fine I do miss the resume capability from the server info but it saves resume info client side and does 32x Fast FOrward so doesn't take that long to get back to where I left off].

For Free Plex is the BEST media aggregation, streaming and transcoding server you will find period.  Trust me I have looked and tried a bunch.  I have over 100 shows and 600 movies and Plex is a beautiful thing once you bother to read the naming conventions guide and get EVERYTHING inline with what the scanner expects [also as mentioned in help files and changelogs non plex clients like WDTV Lives can't do the stacked episodes feature but it still shows the seperate parts of a media file right next to each other and I can still watch everything in it's entirety so I am good with that].

I can't believe how upset people get with FREE software I mean come on I want to see you build a Netflix Clone to this level of sophistication and offer it mostly for free.

It is quite painfull because after watching all those porn clips I just downloaded I go watching a movie with my girlfriend and upong selecting plex in my samsung tv all that display of humanity pops up in recently added and I can tell you it does a lot of damage to the quality time spent with my fiance

Of course best solution so far is to delete a folder and re add it again so as someone already said the older clips get pushed on and the newer ones take their place, if you dont want to get rid of the “problematic” folder that is, which is the obvious way to go as that will also get rid of them poping up in a most unwelcome way.
It might be a good idea also to go to EDIT/LIBRARY/ADVENCED of that particular folder that you might not want to see poping up next time you load flex and uncheck “include in dashboard”.
