HTPC client forgets audio settings

I’m loving having an HTPC build again. I only have one bug, and it’s a small one. Every few days, it seems the client forgets all my audio settings and goes back to “autoselect device”. I prefer to let my receiver decode the audio, which requires the device to be selected, device kind can’t be auto, and all checkboxes (DD, DTS, etc.) to be checked. It seems to be returning to all default settings occasionally for a reason I can’t figure out.

Only open HTPC if the AVR is switched on.
Always wait with switching off the AVR until HTPC is closed.

HTPC was changed a few versions ago to remember the audio devices you explicitly select and chose those in the order of most recently selected first. If it’s changing to autoselect device that typically means that the audio devices you have selected are not available or have changed names.

The app just updated yesterday, so perhaps it’s fixed. So this may have happened because my AVR turned off but Plex HTPC was still running? It’s just weird because that scenario probably happens more than once a day, but the audio settings only switch to default maybe twice a week.

FWIW, I had this happen to me and so I dug into the cause. It was the result of Windows changing the identifier of the audio device which is indistinguishable to the app from a device being removed and another one added. Perhaps Windows pulled the same stunt with your setup as well.
