I cannot post in Plex Media Server as directed by plex itself, the new topic button is greyed out, why?

Hello,
Sorry to post here but this is the only forum that I do not find the “post new topic” button greyed out. I cannot find any explanation why that might be. The only thing I can think of is that I posted on a completely different topic several weeks ago but why should that matter unless new people are only allowed to post one post? Is it perhaps a way of getting people to close down a previous post even though the issue is still a problem?

Anyway, can someone please help. I try starting Plex Media Server on my Windows 10/64 pc in Chrome (latest version) and after spending a long time starting up it says

" A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server.

## Please visit the forums and provide your logs, as described here."

Naturally I went to the Plex Media Server section wanting to post about my problem as directed but, as I say, the new topic button is greyed out?

I won’t post my log files here but if someone can explain to me how to post in the required forum I would be very grateful. Also when it says post your log files, does it mean zip them up and post the lot (there are 54 files not counting those in the installer log sub or the PMS Plugin sub) or is it specific logs only that are required, please?

Lastly it maybe unrelated but I got an Nvidia Shield yesterday. Whether this might be part of the problem I am not sure. When I first started plex it setup a new server but all I wanted to do was use the Shield as a player so choose my existing server which runs on my PC. The screen populated all my programs and films etc. However, each time I opened one up and pressed play it would flash back to the start screen of the shield interface and not play my file. I then thought I would go into the server option on the PC to see if there was some kind of security preventing things from playing and that is when I found the issue that I cannot start up my server.

Hope someone can assist me, thanks.

Plex Media Server (unknown as I cannot start it up but it was updated recently)

You need to select “computer” or “devices” depending on what you have the server installed on.

moving this there.

just drag and drop log files. which one depends on issue but generally the plex media server.log

Ah, thank you. There are 5 more files labelled Plex media Server 1/2/etc but here is the
Plex Media Server.log file as suggested

Plex Media Server.log (5.2 KB)

For core component issues it is the logs in PMS Plugin Logs together with the server logs that are important and also the time of the error is crucial

Please copy out the whole Logs directory - excluding the installer logs and zip the copy and attach

(you provided 25 seconds only of log!)

FYI The core component error is normally caused by

  • a very slow NAS system running PMS on
  • A proxy or vpn running intercepting requests and blocking
  • security software blocking communication between the python PlexScriptHost.exe processes and Plex Media Server.exe

Sorry for the delay responding. I found that altering the settings on my firewall on the router sorted the problem. It all seems to be working ok again touch wood.
