I noticed today that there was a new user in my friends list. His username was his full email address. I looked him up and emailed him as well, asking him who he is and if we know each other. He responded to my email saying “Got a random invite to a Plex account by someone with your name a few days ago.” We definitely don’t know each other.
Does anyone know how could this have happened?
There are no IPs or networks with no auth access.
PMS is running on a Windows environment.
Manual port forward is on.
Guest access is disabled.
could you PM me this user’s name/email?
Ok I sent you his username.
Was the user simply in the ‘friends list’ or were there libraries shared with him?
It could have happened while you invited your last sharee a few days ago.
They both use gmail.com
Maybe you mistyped the email address/username?
He was in the friends list with all libraries shared to him.
I’m still confirming with the last person I shared with to see if it rings any bells, but did this user have a similar Plex username as my most recent addition? All I could see was his email address where his username should be.

it has only the email.
at gmail.com, which your latest shared user also has.
