iCloud Photo Library and Plex on multiple iOS devices

I recently upgraded my iCloud storage and decided to turn on the iCloud Photo Library on my Mac so my pictures would be synced between all my Apple devices. I already had Plex’s Camera Upload feature turned on so I assumed that Plex would start uploading these to my PMS as well over a few days and that does indeed seem to be happening. On my iPhone it currently shows something like 500 photos uploaded and around 12500 to go. Unfortunately, I then checked my iPad and it seems to be doing the same thing albeit a bit slower. I want plex to import and upload my pics to my plex server, however I don’t need duplicates uploaded from each device. Will the PMS be smart enough to recognize these duplicates (exact same size and filename) and only keep one of each photo? If not, is there any way to remove duplicates easily once the process is complete? I’ve got the newest PlexPass version of PMS installed on the server.

Laurence, how’s your Photos integration going? I would like to work with my Photos media with Plex as well and I’m still wrapping my head around the possibilities. What workflow have you discovered?

Thanks,

Robert

I ended up just turning off the Plex camera-upload feature from my iOS devices and installing PMS on one of my Macs. I then added the Photos library (/Users//Pictures/Photos Library.photoslibrary/Masters) to that PMS. This makes it take a few extra minutes to show up as we’re waiting on iCloud to sync to my Mac, but new photos still show up relatively soon. I run a separate movie/TV PMS on a NAS box so the transcoding doesn’t effect the Mac while I’m using it.
