We seem to have very different perspectives on what establishes “hiding” my personal media…
Hubs for my local media are still listed on the home screen
All my local or shared libraries are available in the Libraries section (which is right next to the Home – I acknowledge, that’s 1 more click from accessing all my libraries from the central sidebar… but it’s far from “hiding” them.
You don’t have to like their design choices (and many are voicing how this could be improved before a public release). No need to go overboard with the drama .
Yeah that is sort of typical Plex response…I remember back about 5-6 years ago when they pushed out a new version (with similar navigation to what they’re pushing now)…the community really pushed back hard and Plex had to go back to the drawing board. Seems to be a similar approach this time.
No DV 8.1.
No EAC3 Atmos.
No Spatial Audio (Headphones).
No HDR10+.
Incorrect, non accurate HDR Brightness Level.
Just to mention some things. All is working fine with infuse. The plex server software is amazing, but the plex atv player app lacks behind for several years now.
I see, I would like to see those sorted, yet those at present are not break neck requirements for most subscribers. Yes I hear you and should be fixed.
I find the current Experimental app has come a long way, remembering the issues of stuttering not so long ago.
I do agree Infuse works well but I find it not that polished compared to PMS. So for me TV shows I use Plex ATV app and 4K Movies I tend to use Infuse at present.
Personally, I find the GUI of the Plex Experience Preview much more visually appealing than that of Infuse, even though it’s still full of bugs. However, it’s not entirely fair to compare them, as Plex isn’t solely focused on local content.
For the reasons mentioned, I believe Infuse is simply the best choice on Apple TV. In the end, what matters most to me is that the selected video plays smoothly and accurate. A beautiful GUI is only helpful when browsing.
No, I think that’s very fair. Given the topics posted in this subforum so far, it’s fair to say the majority of users do not like the navigation changes in the new interface compared to the old one. Plex clearly designed this new interface to increase the prominence of their own ad-supported content. But if people don’t like the new interface and opt to use a third-party client, Plex’s efforts will be detrimental to their goal.
I’m not an Apple TV owner, but that doesn’t really matter since this interface will be standard on all clients in the end. I currently default to using the official Plex Android TV app to play content on TVs. But if this new interface is what Plex is going to go with without any fundamental changes, I will likely change to using PM4K as my default client. And that will be the end of me using Plex’s ad-supported video services at all.
I wouldn’t get the Plex pass or even consider continuing to use Plex at this point. They’re a garbage vile company that doesn’t care about their user base.
If you want to support their endeavors to build features we aren’t asking for while removing existing features we use, then go ahead and get it.
