I have a home server that I share with my 3 partners. Not all of us like the same shows. I typically view my shows by:
- Episodes
- Filtered by Unplayed
- Ordered by Air Date
However this is problematic when there are shows on the server that I don’t care about. They fill up my view and crowd out the shows that I care about. The signal to noise ratio is very high.
The workaround I have right now is to on-mass mark the shows that I don’t care about as Played so they get filtered out. Then I have to be ever-vigilant to mark new episodes of those shows as Played as they come out. It’s annoying, requires hyper-vigilance, and just not ideal.
I thought that this would be solved by implementing the feature described in the topic named Plex Home inverse filter, blacklist on this forum… however that topic was just closed, apparently because the feature has been implemented? Except it hasn’t. There seems to be a vast misunderstanding of use-cases here.
This is literally all that needs to be done:
- For any given user on a server.
- They should be able to mark any given show/movie as “Ignored”.
- And that show will by default not show up in any views (possibly there could be a way to “Show Ignored Items” that would then allow you to see them in that view).
Things I am NOT wanting:
- Ability to filter out shows based on Rating.
- Ability to filter out shows based on Category.
- Ability to filter out shows based on Labels or Tags.
I literally just want to be able to just say: “Hey, I don’t actually watch Survivor. It’s not interesting to me. Stop showing it to me. Don’t show new episodes of it to me. Don’t show old episodes of it to me. Make it go away from my view.”
The filtering out HAS to be based on:
- The logged in user.
- That user specifically and manually marking a specific show/movie to be ignored.
