+1 on supporting AV1

+1 for AV1 support!
+1 for AV1
Time is money.
Have they responded yet in regards to implementing this?
I have heard its a client side thing and that it should be really simple to fix up.
I have seen them releasing updates for that retro looking gaming side of plex, but not much on the stuff that is more relevant to the vast majority of their customers.
They have not replied.

Iām a bit surprised that I need to ask for it, but +1 for AV1 support, please.
+1! Please add AV1 support!!
+1 AV1 Support!!!
+1 AV1 Supportā¦
+1 for AV1 Support! Yāall take long enough and folks will move on to other options. Plex feels like theyāre on top now but all it takes is lagging behind just a little to start losing out. Get on it.

Iām noticing more and more items having this format, would be nice to have support for it.
Iāll check back in five months when they pretend they never saw this post and quietly implement it. Good luck until then.
Edit: Well, I tried.
I think the recent fight between Google (YouTube TV) and Roku, where one of the sticking points is rumored to be around the AV1 codec, should be a sign - Plex should really start implementing this codec if not already implemented. Or, if under development, considering a push to production this year.
Before Plex, I was a MediaTomb guy on Freenas. And while I have a lifetime subscription to Plex, Iām still not opposed to other forms of media delivery to my house and my friends.
Heck, Iām still sort of miffed that, during Hurricane Harvey here in Houston I had some database issues that no one at Plex seemed to really care about, and I was trying to share out my live TV broadcasts but for some reason, Live TV wasnāt working (still a relatively new feature). And I had to learn SQL on my freaking own to fix it, and it wasnāt even my fault. Then I had to restore my DB and lose play tracking because my āfixā didāt survive a Plex update.
Just search the forums - youāll see it. 2017. Buffalo Bayou Timelapse During Harvey - YouTube
Pro-tip: Most of the āPlex-erptsā e-mails these days just go to my trash bin - who cares about Tidal, anyway.

+1 AV1 Support please
Any idea what I need to install on a raspberry pi 4 running ubuntu that is functioning as the plex media server to solve the āno av1 decoderā / āvideo decoder āav1ā not foundā error
You need to install VLC for Ubuntu and convert the media to a compatible codec, before adding it to your Plex library.

It is exhausting to not only stumble onto yet another Plex inadequacy, but to also discover in these very forums that a competitor like Emby had already implemented a fix for it years earlier.
