PlexPy has this type of functionality in it’s User implementation already. It’s not CHANGING their user ID , but changing how that ID is displayed. PlexWatch has it as well, when you edit the configuration files to get it.
I would love to see this within Plex itself, and also have their real plex.tv user ID and email displayed in the user section.
Yes, for security concerns this would be better. It should be optional though, meaning the user should still be able to choose from whatever name they want.
Only realised how useful this would be when I started using Plex Home and “lm_92” was amongst the names of real people - it doesn’t give off a particularly polished look. +1!
This request has almost 200 likes now! I’d really like this as well. The email names make it difficult to tell at a glance which users have access to which libraries.
+1 I can so something like this with PlexPy. Maybe the developer of that, who now works for Plex if I’m not mistaken, can provide some insight on how they incorporated this in their app.

Can you please post a screenshot what this looks like in PlexPy as of now?
I blacked out any potentially sensitive information but you get the jist. My buddy’s Plex username starts with na … and I changed the name to be friendly, as his actual first name. So wherever I look at him in PlexPy I see his real name instead of his Plex username.
