This is called a bookmarklet – it’s a tiny bit of javascript code that runs when you click the bookmark. It works for me in Chrome on the desktop and Chrome on iOS, although you have to be make sure you click the bookmark before clicking the second play button if you’re trying this on mobile. On the desktop just click the bookmarklet after starting the video. You can adjust the 2.0 above to whatever you want (0.25, 0.5, 1.0, 1.1, etc). Check out w3schools to learn more.

I use this in VLC for TV, movies, and audio books. TV I tend to use 1.3 or 1.4, movies I’ll do 1.5 to 2.0. VLC can do it without the chipmunk side-effect KMP has, but I can’t use VLC unless I’m home using the actual files. I’d love to see this implemented in PMP!
HEY PLEX!!! Could we at least get a response? I’m in the same boat as many above; I like to watch movies at greater than 1x speeds. Normally at 1.2x or 1.3x. With audio books, I’ll typically listen at 1.5x-2.0x.
I’m not a programmer, so I have no idea about the difficulty in making this change, but it’s obvious from the software of competitors and lots of other single use (video, audio book… etc) programs that the ability to speed up video and audio is a fairly ubiquitous tool at this point.
Slowing down would also be a nice touch. I will sometimes go back and re-watch a portion of a sporting event in extra slow motion because I want to observe a specific detail of what happened.
So PLEASE, if you aren’t going to ever include it, or even if you are, PLEASE at least respond and let those of us who could really use this feature know what’s going on.
I agree, could we please get some feedback on this? It doesn’t have as much support as some other requests, but it’s probably by far one of the simplest features to implement. Especially considering the APIs for media playback in HTML, iOS, and Android already supply a way for changing playback speed.
The ability to play back my TV recordings and movies at speeds like 1.2x to 1.5x is one of my most used features in VLC. It is a real time saver. More people would do it if they knew about it. I sure would use if it it was part of local playback for Plex (I never use Plex for remote playback as my home Internet is not robust enough for this).
want this so badly. i already listen to my podcasts sped up and watch tivo in quickplay mode and use VLC to watch videos fast. Watching Plex at normal speed is kinda weird at this point. Plus we need this to get through all the content out there given limited time.

If you are using Firefox, this is the best one I’ve found … but not as convenient as the Chrome version since it lacks both hotkeys and a convenient menu while in fullscreen. Still…
I would love this feature, especially because I am a Plex Pass user and I use the sync to my Android phone. I always chromecast to my tv and would like to watch at faster speeds. When I’m using my pc I just use the extension in chrome to speed it up but this is not possible to be used in the android app.
