This is an essential feature, when it comes to video playback.
Also, slower speed, as in 0.5 would be awesome even more.

This and other similar thread requests have been going on since 2013. IT’S TIME to fix this. PLEASE!!!
We shouldn’t have to rely on 3rd party add-ons and user work arounds for something that should be a part of any A/V playback program.

Would also love this feature. Mostly for Audiobooks, podcasts, and educational videos.
I would like to add that it may be beneficial to have a new library agent for this.
Personally I keep my edu content separate from my regular music and movies, they are all that I want to speed up. Since podcast xml’s store information, and it would be possible to pull audiobook info from a database, it would make the most sense to have the library agent check specific databases for this content.
Really want to switch from my Tivo more over to Plex DVR but the Tivo QuickPlay feature lets me get through shows so much faster. Plex really needs to get on this one please.

Plex just implemented the first step towards this – variable playback speed for audio files in the Android 6.12.0. I’m so excited! Hopefully this means they will add this feature in other players and later for video files!
+1 Even WMC had this feature, we need this as well!

I have been watching the Daily Show and the Colbert report at 2x speed for years. Right now I have go watch these shows on a computer where I can use VLC. I would love to have this playback option on a Roku, iOS and the desktop players.

There are some seris I want to watch, but aren’t worth watching at 1x speed. I’d want to watch them but only if I can do it at 1.5x or something

I’ve been watching lecture videos via other apps with playback speed control and now i want to load up the lectures via plex so i can watch everything on one app.
This is a critical requirement for reviewing Training videos, lectures, and podcasts of all forms. Everyone’s time is valuable and enabling us to review volumes of information quickly would be a major benefit for using Plex. A “one-stop shop” for ALL of our media is a goal of Plex and this is a core feature needed for delivering on that aspiration. After 4-5 years of requesting this necessary feature, can the Plex team deliver it; Please !!.
Variable speed playback is wonderful for lectures, talk shows, and other such media. Would love to see it enabled for Plex!
I was excited to see it added for podcasts recently. Hopefully that’s a nice first step along the way.

Now that we have a new voting system in place, I’d like to see if there is more interest in this feature.
Since variable speed playback was recently added for podcasts and music, it would be awesome if it could also be added for videos and TV!
