[implemented] Two Factor Authenticator for Plex account

Oh, I see!
He will continue to use the product for free and assume the risk and then pay when he gets what he wants.
Thanks for clarifying it.

No its not about getting my way, I’m simply not willing to invest money in a product that is lacking essential security features that are common place across the internet, especially when it comes personal data aswell.

I’ve been using plex for a long time, nearing a decade and the way it functions has changed over the years, for instance the introduction of user accounts, the mandatory requirement of an internet connection to use the server. These two particular features mean that i cannot run my plex server in private on my local network, because would be attackers have the ability to attempt to access my online account. But yes you are right, I am taking the risk with certain media presently but only on my local network, but not all of my media, I only use it in a limited capacity. I would use it in full if these security features where implemented and then i would purchase lifetime plexpass.

Its not really a hard point to understand.

That most certainly sucks.

And you know, that in itself is not an issue with me. What I don’t like is the deletion feature. The most devastating feature of all.

Once explained. Thanks.

Suggested in 2016 and still not implemented? That feature must be too complicated to implement, or the Plex team has its priorities clearly wrong. Sad.

i think its the latter

This request and the Ebook support are the most voted feature suggestion, but we keep getting updates about Tidal, even if nobody wanted it lol

Please consider improving security and address features that are requested by the users

Come on it’s 2019…

My account was just compromised. Common…

Do not use same password with plex as on other sites. common.

You can get MFA/2FA with an idp like google or facebook today, but i think that plex should also make an MFA service for internal users who does not want to use an external idp for what ever reason

WTF GIVE US MFA NOW. (by a Payed Ples Pass user.)

Yes? And? Not to sound rude but what’s your point?

Woops read the original OP

From 2015!? Okay… Actually, back in 2015 you couldn’t delete content physical off your system. You could only view and delete library items and the library itself.
But now!! with the introduction of media deletion, it’s a whole new can of worms. Someone can now delete your content right off your hard drive with that option.
Turn off you say? They can just turn it back on, then delete away!!

Some people have said, well, make the media read-only or give plex ā€œread-onlyā€ access or have backups. And that may be the only option those people have.

My opinion on this subject, I can understand who wants the extra security. But for heavens sake, only if it’s optional, It could be a total pain…

Not really, especially if they implement a ā€œremember this machine/deviceā€ option at the point of login, then it’s a one time thing.

I see that this is a very popular thread.
Unfortunately, it appears like the guys from PLEX don’t give a damn…a shame, still paying the service cause I wanted to show support for the great product - but when a thread of a SecurityFeature (2FA) from 2015 don’t get attention … I don’t really know what it would.
I mean, back then - probably was too much to ask to have a 2FA, but in 2019 it should be a standard.

I know tidal support is of utmost importance but if we could get 2FA… that’d be great.

It’s ridiculous that we have the useless TIDAL but not 2FA.

Give me a break.
