I really really want to import all my music ratings from the itunes library into plex server running on my Synology NAS.
I know its posible if the plex server is running on the same PC where itunes is.
I know that there is many people out there that wish the same.
Is it going to be posible or Is there allready now a work arround for that?
I think it might actually work. I’ve just tried using the “Import from iTunes” functionality, and it imported not only my playlists, but also my ratings!
You need to copy across the iTunes Library.xml file to your NAS, update all the links in it to reference the song files correctly, then set the location of this through Settings > Server > Plugins (as well as enabling the iTunes channel).
Then click the three dots next to Playlists and Import from iTunes.
That should do the trick!
Okay, found out that the settings need to have the “Disable capability checking” market before I got the three dots. And you also need to restart the plex server running on the NAS
I can import the iTunes xml now, but its only the playlists that will import and not the rattings.
Okay I understand.
I can import the iTunes xml now, and if I look into the Itunes plugin, I can se the playlists and the ratings displayet with “4Star”,“5Star” etc.
But the Playlists view on Plex Server dosnt have anything in it, and the Ratings on plex is still not showing up.
It seems that something in the end of the process is not transfer the plugin data to the plex itself?
Yes, I did remove the Smart playlists before import. And the Ratings are in the xml file and also in Plex servers Itunes plugin. iTunes Music Library.zip (1.7 KB)
Okay. I really hope that there will be a solution for this soon.
I cannot use plex for my primary musicplayer if I can only use itunes plugin. It is useless.
