I am currently rebuilding my plex library due to HD crash. Is there any way to speed up the index file generation process (scanning each movie / tv episode and generating scrubbing thumbnails)? I didn’t know if the transcode settings have an effect on this process.
No, there is no way to speed it up. It takes how long it will take.
You could extend the duration of the server maintenance period, to give the server more time per day, during which it is allowed to create those video previews.
(I am assuming you told the server to create those as a ‘Scheduled task’)
