I just started organizing my audiobooks into collections. As everyone else is saying, I’d like the option to ‘hide’ individual books (albums) in the library view if that book is included in any collection. This would mimic the behavior of the Movies Collection setting “Hide items which are in collections”. The Collection would show up in the Library, and the items included would not show up.
Just discovered one possible reason that audio collections are more granularly controlled; I do have some collections that I’ve created as custom ‘libraries’ for users (like my dad). I do want those items to show up in the library, instead of being hidden.
Edit the library’s properties.
I’ve looked at the ‘Advanced’ tab for the audio library, and it doesn’t include any options related to Collections. I scanned through all of the options available for the server itself, and failed to find anything related to Collections. The only Collections option I’ve found is for visual media.
Can you help me find the location to which you are referring, for audio media libraries?
Apologies, I cannot. I’ve glossed over the specific requirement of “audio library”.
It is currently not possible, hence why this request thread exists.
Not a worry; I appreciate your engagement, and wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing an available tool.
Have a great weekend!
Have confirmed, after running Metadata update and refresh, that this setting does not yet control visibility in the library. At least, not when viewing in PlexAmp, or when viewing in the desktop application, sorting by All >> Albums >> By Album Artist and when sorting by All >> Albums >> By Title.
I’d be thrilled to receive a recommendation that does reflect that setting; I know some views are designed to show everything all of the time. The two views I am using feel like the most reasonable views that should respect the hidden collection setting.
