Install not working DSM 6

Hello,

After Plex didn’t want to start (‘Failed to run the package service’). My NAS wasn’t running in 4 weeks, so I was a bit irritated where the error came from. I decided to uninstall the PMS package and reinstall it, as I didn’t find any other possible solution in the forums.

Current issue is that Plex won’t install, as I’m getting the following message:
’ Port 32400 configured for this package is either used by another service or reserved for system use. Please disable or modify the conflicting service, or contact the developer to modify the package configuration.’

I did:

  • Restart the NAS several times
  • Deletion of Plex user
  • Ensured no other custom port forwarding rules are applied
  • No other applications are using the port (Control Panel > Info Center > Service)

I have no idea how to proceed.

Any ideas where to look for the port?

Server Version#: 1.24.1.4931 x86 64Bit (older ones throw the same error)
Player Version#:

If I may comment about the port in use?

There is another client app out there which connects to Plex.
I forget which one but think it has something to do with media acquisition / processing.

As part of that package’s definition, it opens plex’s ports. The moment you change that default port configuration, the problem resolves.

@trumpy81 I already uninstalled Plex. Not sure what the logs could provide you then, as the conflict is probably on the synology side.

@ChuckPa thanks for the promising idea - I already wrote a “yes, it worked”-statement, but unfortunately uninstalling the WebTools app (dev. ukdtom) didn’t change anything. I did 3 reboots after uninstalling the application, but I still get the same statement.

@O_B

Fair enough. Sorry to have intruded.

I’ll step back and let Trumpy continue.

@trumpy81 See my logs attached. I went with your #2 method.

No change after restarting several times.

Thanks in advance!

It did work now through stopping various apps.
