We love PLEX and we use Netflix for the movies etc… that we don’t own. I think it would be pretty cool for PLEX if there was a way for a Netflix subscriber to be able to see the movies etc… from Netflix in the PLEX libraries (not as a channel), that way we don’t have to bounce between 2 different apps. Sorry yes I am a bit lazy and like convenience . Just a thought.
This would be really cool.
In 2014 Netflix shut down it’s public API so this sort of thing is no longer possible

Certain partners still have API connectivity to Netflix it’s a matter of Plex using their plex pass users money to strike a deal with Netflix to enable this capability similar to what they have done with Vevo

Probably true, I’m sure there’s a private API they can supply for a cost, but that would probably be an expensive deal… and I don’t see how Plex would gain from this, so why spend the money?
Does not have to be limited to netflix though. Hulu, Sling TV, Amazon Video, etc
I own a number of films on Vudu. I’d love to see them listed among the other entries I have in my Movies library. I really like Plex and would love to see it truly become the center of the universe for the digital media that I have.
Thanks.
Agreed. Something similar to Reelgood.com but integrated withing plex.
Ok, so this one maybe hard to pull off If you are like me you have:
Netflix
Hulu
Amazon Prime
Epix
HBO Now
CBS All Access
Google Play
On top of Plex
Now wouldn’t it be fantastic if we could link them all to our account in plex, so when we did a search for a movie and it isn’t on plex but say it’s on Netflix we would be able to pull that up then steam it though plex from Netflix (or Whatever streaming service has it). It could even have an Identifier on the Info page saying Netflix so we would know where we are streaming it from. you could even take it one step further and lets say someone did a search for Zootopia (or something like that) and they have it on Plex, Netflix, and HBO, It could have an Identifier for all of them on the info page and when you select play it would ask you “play from…”
Not just movies either, you can do it for TV Shows and Music too.

Nice dream, but if apple can’t get Netflix in their TV app, I doubt Plex can.

The issue with he TV app isn’t that Apple cannot get a deal, but that the way Netflix subdivides based on the sub accounts isn’t compatible with how the TV app works. Hulu works because it just treats the last accessed sub account as the ‘current’ account, so it ingrates with the TV app fine, but Netflix doesn’t do that.
Of course, it’s possible they also couldn’t get a deal done, but since there are technical issues, I don’t think it’s that clear cut.
You can ask Netflix, as a Netflix customer, when they are going to support the TV app. I have noticed my Netflix viewing falling off a bit since so much is int eh TV app that my second goto is always Plex instead of Netflix. We even dropped our sub from 4 streams to 2.
Amazon Prime would absolutely be one of the most valuable plugins, and for me the most important new plugin.
With the paradigm sift to the new model of Media Type/Media Source/Subcategory, the global search, and integrated home page rolling out to all of your client platforms, maybe it would be a good time to reach out to and work out integration with content providers like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, etc so that their services would show up as Media Sources/Subcategories and thus be included in the global search. This would truly make Plex and sole media center you guys seem to be striving to be.
