Intel Quick Sync Video

Liked the original post…and +1 again

+1 please add quicksync for pms

This is would easily make the biggest impact to my use case and I think most people who use transcoding as the slight quality drop isn’t an issue for realtime transcoding but will allow so many more machines transcode or allow more people to transcode without maxing out their CPUs.

This is a must. Everyone is trying to save the planet with lower electric use. This thread has been open for 4 years. How is it emby was able to add this in a relatively short time.

Even if it gives me poorer quality it’s great to have the options… for all sync it would be perfect to have, as they are mostly syncing to small screen mobile device where even 720p 2Mbps is fine for watching stuff while traveling… Sad it’s been requested for 4 years and not been implemented.

I have been asking for GPU support for YEARS, please look at https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/65319/gpu-and-better-multithread-support-for-transcoding/p1 feature request back from April 2013 :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The Apollo Lake cores are out now which are another great piece of low cost/ low power hardware for a home made NAS/PMS. Having IQS would make it run great.

Hoping the owners can get past Licensing and make it happen, or allow third party transcoders.

IF quality is the same as with CPU transcoding: +1

HW Transcoding cannot offer you the same quality of SW transcoding.

See the HW transcoding preview to compare yourself.

It looks exactly the same to me.> @comio said:
