Hi there! I have a few related feature requests, and a quick question... here I go:
So, now that "Now Playing" works again (and better than ever I might add), and with the current state of Plex/Web, I thought it would be great to be able to send shared users a message from the Now Playing screen. There have been a few times when I would be working on my server, and needed to reboot. I look, and there's a family member or friend enjoying some content in my library that I've shared with them. It would be great to be able to send a message that would pop up in middle of their screen saying "Message from : Sorry, rebooting server. it will be back up in 4 minutes!" for example. Or maybe a friend is watching something that sucked, I could "Message from : Hey, try movie XYZ, the one you're watching sucked! trust me!!" etc. etc...
Second, same place: Control over shared sessions; save spot stop remote player and kick user from server. maybe The ability to limit remote users. When I'm traveling, I use my Plex to keep up with some TV shows and general entertainment while stuck in hotels. My bandwidth from home is limited, and if needed I should be able to limit others ability to log on if I choose. So If my stream is sucking because my bandwidth is split too thin, I'd love to be able to just go to now playing and send a message to a friend and tell them the server is going offline for a little; and kick them, increasing the bandwidth coming to me!
Also, I would love to have a place for a message of the day. Like the Plex Announcements, except maybe this could be toggled on or off and would pop up for a few seconds when someone connected to your server share.
Finally, "Now Playing" would be nice on other platform players like iOS, GoogleTV, Samsung, and Roku players. I think it's only implemented on Plex/Web right now, right? Not a big or important feature since Plex/web is easily accessed.
While I'm here, and on the subject of shared/social server functionality, what's the point of "Friends"? In it's current state, it doesn't look like it does anything at all? And shouldn't authorized "shared" users automatically be friends; why do I need to invite someone I already invited to share the server? Are there plans for a messaging/social system in the future?
1) would like to be able to send live messages/text to users currently remotely watching shared content
2) Session control (i.e. boot shared users)
3) Message of the Day or Local Announcements to augment Announcements
4) "Now playing" section on more than just Plex/Web platform to see who's on my system
