Is it a way to store the Plex database in the SD Card or USB Drive?

I use my NVIDIA Shield as a Plex Server. It is very powerfull.

I just got a problem… My Shield is a 16 Gb device and is 1 Gb free. My Plex Database is 8.5 Gb large.

Is it a way to store this DB in an alternate storage directly attached to the shield (2 TB USB3 Drive or 128 Gb Memory card) ?

In the server settings there is an option for the database Backups :
/storage/emulated/0/Plex Media Server/Database Backups/

I imagine that an option for “Database folder” as target is possible.

Nope it is not possible (yet) there are many complaints and requests about this on these forums but its getting ignored.

As @“Oliver.75” has stated it is not currently possible with the current architecture of the Plex Media Server (PMS) on the Shield. Please check the other discussions in this NVIDIA SHIELD category: “Will PMS ever allow Plex data on adopted storage?” and “Has anyone successfully relocated the Metadata folder with ROOT?”. Blueskies, Paul

this works well…

That is an obsolete method that needs a rooted SHIELD. Plex now natively supports moving your database/metadata to external or adopted storage. This method shouldn’t be promoted anymore.

Is this going to change with the Shield update from 6.3 to 7 as it say plex metadata can be stored on external drive?

Plex metadata can already be stored on external drive in 6.3. I think this is more like an official acknowledgment from NVIDIA taking advantage of the release. You can check this thread for more info:
