The wildly annoying problems playing movies on Xbox made me buy a Shield. But, I continued using the Xbox to stream my music and photos. I stream music almost every waking hour I’m in my home. Suddenly I can’t stream photos. I’ve done my troubleshooting, my forum searches and performed all the routinely successful stop-restart-power off-power on-etc. It IS narrowed down to the Xbox. Frankly, I give. With a lifetime Plex Pass I find myself increasingly disappointed in Plex. The company seems to misunderstand it’s niche. Did anyone, anyone, install a Plex app on their device with the primary purpose of streaming free internet content? Why would you right? That’s the premise of each device Plex runs on. It’s the platform function. We install Plex, if not solely for the purpose of streaming our OWN content, then it’s at least initially. Plex is working so hard on the functions that don’t make people look for an app like Plex. I want the best app available for streaming MY media. I had no reason to look for something that is redundant to every streaming device’s fundamental capability. It would seem making Plex work RIGHT on every device would be a priority. Even if they don’t understand their niche.
Have you looked at their home screen recently ? ![]()
You can see where the priority lies.
Wow! You couldn’t have answered more decisively.
I still don’t get it. They can’t possibly beat their competition in that market because they’re redundant and even further, unnecessary. Even if what they’re doing for that market is good, nobody wants it. Yet they have little competition in the local media server market and they’d have zero competition in that market if they applied resources to it instead of some silly notion they can rule the world. I look forward to a day somebody puts out the product that shuts the door on them in the market where they abandoned their actual paying customers. Ugh, I’m sorry about the rant. Nobody on here deserves that.
