Is Plex working on Intel HDR transcoding for Windows, or is that an Intel or Microsoft thing?

Server Version#: 85af1e381

I previously thought the fact this was a feature in Linux but not Windows problem was on Intel. Then someone on the subreddit said Plex was working on it and it would be released soon. Is this true? If so, is there any ballpark ETA, however vague?

See the recently updated HDR to SDR Tone Mapping document.

When running Windows, you need an Nvidia GPU for hardware accelerated tonemapping. Otherwise, Plex will use the CPU.

WRT using Intel GPUs for tonemapping, Plex rarely, if ever, releases such product plans.

I heard the same thing. PLEX was working on this and it would be in a future update. I just buitl a quicksync server and it’s mind boggling how it can transcode everything, including nearly a dozen streams, with ease, but as soon as I try an HDR file it crawls to a stuttering mess.

Quicksync is up to the challenge, so let’s get this working for Plex Pass users. I see the M1 mac is able to do it with the latest beta. Windows is waiting patiently.
