I’m working on adding trailer support for a metadata agent. I saw that Plex has their own Video URL Service for YouTube, and indeed if I add a trailer with a YouTube URL then the Video Service is invoked;

However, when I view the video, Plex Web fails with the error “There was a problem playing this item.” and Plex Media Player fails with “unrecognised file format”. Again looking at the agent’s log, the Video Service is invoked and a ‘true’ URL for the video is returned.

If I try and visit the URL directly in my browser, I get a 403 Forbidden error, however searching around this is to be expected - apparently the true URL is only valid for the requesting client?
I’ve had a look around in the Plex Media Server log file as well, but nothing really stood out. Is there anything special I need to do to use the YouTube Video Service to play back YouTube videos in Plex?
