Hi i installed ubuntu and the haupaugge drive via ppa.
plex finds it, scans channels… but playback it horrible… UN-watchable.
this is running inside a esxi VM.
i ran same thing but with windows 8 vm and all works fine
seems issue is with the linux driver?
any idea what else i can check… what logs i should post?
i had same exact problem, same exact setup by the sounds of it.
according to my conversations with Hauppauge support - they do not test with vmware platform 
i did a bunch of attempts to get this working under esxi/vmware linux, but with no luck.
finally, i’ve moved the 955 off into a raspberry pi running raspbian, and installed tvheadend / tvhproxy, it adds in to plex np.
i have dvr/live tv working flawlessly now… i wouldnt hold my breath on fixed drivers from Hauppauge…
(edit) : to be fair, it could be vmware’s fault, too…
