If I have a USB DAC plugged into the USB of my permanent android device for plaing audio, How can I keep it powered. Can I use a “Y” USB to both power and go to the DAC at one time.
Or is there any other solution to this?
You need a USB-C OTG Adapter with Power Delivery.
Or the obvious, wireless power for phone if it supports it 
Yep thought off that…but cheap tablets don’t often come with wireless charging.. Experimenting with tablet control of headless ( as you suggested) vs running plexamp on the tablet. In both scenarios I want the ability to have audio out of the tablet for the occasional other media source like podcasts.
It’s a much better touch interface than the screen in my headless pi.
