i will add my voice to the ‘Dear Product Owner please add support for embedded tags’. Surly this is a relatively simple thing, start with at least displaying them then move to sorting and selecting on them. Come on guys, were waiting …
I am a plex pass with a lifetime membership and I too have been trying to figure out how to view my 44,000 pictures by the keyword tags carefully inserted in all of my photos. It is very disappointing that they omitted this feature. I can view by places which is helpful but not close to what I was hoping for.
I also need this - if they can do it for music ( https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/227541/howto-configure-plex-to-use-embedded-metadata-music) why not photos?
I use a cumbersome workaround. Use software to re-name your files with your metadata, ie. [metadata1] [metadata2].jpg. Then in Plex create a filter (not search) for metadata1 - and then add all those photos to a “metadata1”-album.
Just joined the forum and I am so glad I read this thread. I was in the process of paying a yearly subscription but now with over 20000 photos already tagged with keywords I find Plex does not support keywords. I am upset that I cannot use Plex the way I hoped to so until things change my money stays in my pocket
Me too. My photos are also EXIF tagged. I would definitely pay for subscription as my support to Plex if it supports EXIF tagging!!
Absolutely necessary and basic. Please implement this option.
I was just researching plex for personal use and find their lack of photo tagging via iptc standard a deal breaker… my digital life is organized by metadata, and as photographer with over 150k pictures, there is no way i want to use anything other than a standard for organization and classification. I use ACDSEE for IPTC tagging and would never dream of locking up my metadata in proprietary databases… Moving on to look at other media servers.
Gugus… we still neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed this Feature. For other Viewers it’s absolutely basic. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it couldn’t be done.
was this fixed? I am trying to find a way to get more access to my photos in the family for things like a TV screen saver, digital frames, mobile apps, etc… but I’m also in the process of setting up my NAS with a new photo workflow (comparing ACDSEE, Capture One+iMatch, etc)
feeling a bit lost because of little features missing in each
Hi everyone,
So I wanted to import all of my Mac photo library into Plex, thinking that Plex would automatically recognize all the metadata and allow me to search by my own keywords, but coming across this thread it doesn’t seem possible.
The auto tagging is useless because this is already being done and managed by the Mac Photos app. I just wanted an easier way to browse, access and most importantly search my photos.
Why is that feature missing?
We have been asking for this for years now. To the best of my knowledge it is not being considered.
I’m curious… How is it going using ACDSee? I started using it about 1.5 years ago and have discovered so much that I like, and I’m still discovering!
Is anyone found the solution to use IPTC Data & XML data in Plex Photo?
I have the same problem:
https://forums.plex.tv/t/iptc-data-xml-data-in-plex-photo/542238
Same for me: I’ve built a collection of 30K photo’s and many of them have keywords added to the metadata. I really need to be able to search/filter on them. Even Synology’s native Photo Station provides such functionality…
