I suppose one of the reasons why this suggestion got rather little attention is that there’s already an existing suggestion discussing an option to hide/disable posters/thumbs for unwatched episodes or movies to avoid spoilers.
I suggest you comment/vote in that thread If that’s what you’re looking for – also to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes.
