Window 7 hasn't liked webkit for awhile now. I used to be able to get around this by enabling the show webkit window option in PMS, but they took that option out in v9.8. Every once in a while on the forum I see someone that uses Windows saying they don't have issues with webkit, but I am not sure if that is because those webkit channels just work for them or if that is because they are using an old version of PMS and enabling the webkit window. Most Windows PMS users cannot view webkit channels.
Here is a list of webkit channels in the channel store, though there are others out there that people have designed like ESPN and HBO2Go:

I was able to make a site configuration file for the Lifetime channel, and I can actually see the video playing on my Win 7 machine (as a WebVideoUrl). However, the and commands don't seem to work so all you can do is play the video. You can't pause. I'm about to give up on this channel because playing around with the site configuration file seems to be getting me nowhere. Maybe Win 7 machines don't process the and commands properly? I am seeing no indication of any mouse movement (I need to move the mouse to bring up the command bar, and then click on the play/pause button).
When I try a webkit channel all the videos sit there loading forever then eventually say not available.
I never knew the exact reason webkit did not work on Windows 7, all I know is that the webkit popup window had to be visible and I had to clean out the cookies on my web browser. I remember there being some talk about it somehow being caused by Aero themes, but I tried turning them off and on and neither helped me.
I use Firefox as my default browser. I do remember those who said they did not have issues with webkit were using Safari for Windows. I was going to just try making Chrome my default browser to see if that made any difference, but I never have. Webkit channels use so much of your computers resources and I use my PMS computer for so many things, it is just easier to avoid them.
And honestly, I would not take the time to make it work with webkit. It is a lot of work just for everyone to complain about how how your channel doesn't work for them. Check out the ESPN or HBO2Go forum posts. Those are both webkit channels and it is just constant complaints. Sander has taken quite a few out of the channel store for that very reason.
I know that when PMS version 9.8.4 came out and no longer had the view webkit window option, some of the guys said that the Plex developers had been threatening to take webkit out completely for awhile now. So I would think webkit is on its way out anyway. I know they are working on v3, maybe it will have a better method for accessing videos on these types of sites. We can always hope.
In the meantime, try seeing if SS Plex or LMWT is picking up the shows your wife wanted to watch. SS Plex has had PR for the last couple of weeks, so I am just watching it there or sometimes I just watch it on my computer from the Lifetime website.
Bad news. It appears Lifetime switched their video protocol from RTMPE to encrypted Adobe HDS. Currently Plex can't handle this format so the only way to update the plugin would be to use a site configuration, but it is an inferior method. I'll see if I can't whip up a site configuration for it, but it most likely won't be as nice or as functional as it was before.
If you set the user-agent to an iPad, HLS streams will be available. Did a quick look, so I don't know how hard it would be to get the m3u8 URL's though...

Could you give me some more details? For example, when I switch my Chrome user-agent to an iPad and try to browse the Lifetime website, I am not finding any video links on the resulting web pages. I find a tag but no source in it.

I did a little sniffing while connecting to the website with my iPad and HLS segments were present in the log... Looks like they are using some kind of protection since there is no master m3u8 list in the logs, but one good thing is that the HLS streams are unencrypted at least.
Just to warn you, this is my first plugin. I mainly made this so that another person could watch Project Runway on the Roku. But all the other shows/movies/clips work too. This is for videos at mylifetime.com.
Well this sounds so perfect but I have no idea how to install a plugin like this. I can't seem to find directions either. Is there a page that tells me how to make this work? Is it off the Roku website or on the Roku itself that I do this? Or is it on the plex site?

I wrote a post earlier on this thread detailing how you might set up the plug-in.
However, I am experiencing a total failure of the plug-in recently. I can play videos from the Lifetime website but when I try to play them using Plex I am getting this in my Plex.log:

Horkonaut, there may be a way to get the Lifetime plugin working again. The developer of the A&E channel found a way to add the "sig" to the videos in the URL service. I was able to use that programming to get the History Channel URL service working again. And since Lifetime is also part of the A&E group, it may work for Lifetime too.
Since it is adding a signature, it most likely will not work with the Premium content that requires TV Provider info since that would change the request, but it will at least make it work again for videos that are not locked and do not require a TV Provider.
If anyone wants to test the changes I made, I created a version of the channel available for download through my Github account that you can try until Horkonaut has a chance to review it and update his version.
Just understand that my version of the actual channel is a scaled down version of the existing channel. My version does not have seasons or clip types and all videos are in order of most recently added. The movie section only list full movies and no video clips. And since, due to this new code, the premium content that requires you to enter your TV Provider info will probably not work, my version only contains videos that do not require you enter TV Provider info (those that have a red lock or a plus mark on them on the website)
Last time I looked, Horkonauts version need a tweak to the code to work, so I am guessing you are using mine. You can also tell because mine does not have seasons listed. Also, Horkonauts is swamped at work right now, so I am going to keep it updated.
I just want to thank everyone that has helped keep this plugin alive and where it is today. Just wanted to chime in and say it seems like none of the movies are "available or in the right format" ? Since I've become a cordcutter I miss lifetime movies the most and am really hoping someone can help me out.
Edit: forgot to say I'm using Plex Media Server to stream to my Roku.
They have changed the format for their movies again. I will have to go back and look at it to see what would be the best fix. Since this has changed just recently, I want to do some work on it to see if I can figure out some pattern to keep it from breaking when they make changes.
